Lab Logistics
This is a beginning list of lab logistics. More will be added in time.
Gannet has put together a gear list to bring for your stay at the lab. If you are planning on staying at the lab, please check it out.
- Everyone must shovel snow to make water for the lab. The tank into which the snow is melted must never be empty. (Check this every 3-4 hours).
- turn filter on
- do not drink this water
- use water sparingly!
- To run water at sink, make sure pump is on (switch behind the fridge)
- make sure pump is turned off when you leave
- if water container under sink is empty, fill with water from the big tank directly.
- this is the same for the water in the bathrooms
- Turn off all appliances when not at the lab
- Leave the thermostat alone... it's warm to prevent the pipes from freezing.
- the digital reading is the temperature of the pipes. Check every so often to make sure that the pipes are not freezing
- The Toilet
- The toilets at the lab are incineration toilets. We will discuss the use of the toilets when the samplers are running.
- Make sure you read the directions on the wall before using for the first time.
- The toilet is loud and burns for 3 hours.
- Trash- ski down as much as possible.
- The last lift up is at 3:00pm. Don't miss it! If you are at the bottom, you must start heading up by 2:00 to make it to the lab in time.
- There is a gym with hot springs in town. This is the place to take a shower.
- When driving, leave your car (with the keys) at Slope Maintenance
- LAB PHONE: 970-879-8298
- Gannet's Phone Number: 970-819-0968
- Ian's Phone Number: 970-819-2842
Also available at the lab:
- broadband wireless access
- fax machine
- deep freezer
- full kitchen
- 4 computers for use by participants
- DVD player
Ski passes are $6.00/day. The Ski Resort will close on April 6, 2008. After the lifts close, snowmobile access and hiking will be the only ways to the lab.
